Maintenance of your High Voltage assets is critical not only to achieve security of electricity supply but also to comply with current legislation. We have operation and maintenance contracts tailored to meet your individual needs.
A large number of organisations within the Manweb Franchise area have High Voltage Distribution equipment as part of their electrical infrastructure. To comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and conditions stipulated within the Distribution Network Operator Code (DNO), it is imperative that you have suitably Authorised Engineers who are competent to operate and maintain these assets.
At NWP, we recognise that customers do not necessarily have the in-house capability to satisfy this legal requirement and therefore have tailored an Operation and Maintenance programme (O&M) which enables the customer to outsource this activity to pursue their core business activity.
Our customer portfolio embraces a wide variety of distribution networks ‘1MW upto 40MW’ from a diverse range of industrial and commercial clients – over 250 in all – including many SME’s from the region as well as multinationals.
Operation and maintenance
Annually we will inspect and clean the substation building and compound and meticulously check all equipment reporting our findings. We also test oil samples taken from each transformer to check for any deterioration within the unit. Associated battery and ancillary equipment also receives our full attention. In addition, at specified intervals we will carry out full maintenance of the high voltage switchgear which includes the testing of all protective devices for correct operation.
Faults and repairs
In the event of a fault or breakdown, call our designated automated control centre and a locally based emergency standby engineer will respond to access the situation, restore supplies and make your system safe. The service is available 24/7, 365days a year. Any essential repairs will be carried out by an experienced team as quickly and efficiently as possible. We have vast resources to call on in terms of labour, plant, materials, switchgear and transformers.
